House Season 6

09/21 is the date of the start of season 6 of House, MD. I so love Dr. House. He is the ultimate *##hole that he can be but you will still have the space to adore him. There is nothing to compare my obsession with him. Christian understand it. I watch the whole season 2-4 on dvd in a week's time, depriving myself of sleep. Then followed season 5 online relentlessly every Tuesday evening since they show it every Monday evening in the US.

Here is a quick peek of episode one of the new season.... More tv series also started their new season this month like Heroes and Gossip Girl... I will have to rethink if I will still follow Heroes or start watching Gossip Girl. I just watch GG because of the clothes and accessories that they have but not really about the story.

It is a rainy YELLOW day!

The former president Corazon C. Aquino was laid to rest today. I watched the funeral convoy's trip from Manila Cathedral up to the road near the Manila Memorial Park. I have never seen that much people in my lifetime for someone's funeral. I guessing that the reason behind that is either they are really touched what Cory left behind or they just want to see Kris Aquino. Either way, for my own point of view, Cory was the president I grew up with... from 1986-1992 she was the one in office. She will always be the one I see on the television and on the front pages of newpapers and magazines. She was the symbol of our country's freedom. I see her as a brave person. Imagine having to take care of 5 children while your husband is imprisoned and then facing challenges after your partner's death. She just did not put on a brave face, she lived the essence of courage.

To be honest, I shed a tear while watching Kris' farewell speech to her mom. I salute Mrs. Aquino for being a mother, specially with a daughter like Kris. You can see that she has the patience and the love for her children. A forgiving mother at that. I can say that she is a role model for everyone. She was not just a woman who stood by her man but went miles just to continue the legacy of what her husband left behind.

The Philippine politics will never be the same without Cory. People respected her opinion and views. Even the church supports her. She just have a certain effect on people. Imagine, they recorded a zero crime rate in Manila yesterday!!! Good bye to Mrs. Aquino. I know she will go straight to heaven.... We should continue to fight for our freedom and democracy in our country. Cory might have not died the way her husband went but died fighting for our country and that is worth noting.

Been too busy....

The last entry that I have on this blog was last May! I have been too busy with so much stuff. Last week of my I underwent tonsillectomy. Yup, you read it right. I have my tonsils removed. Around 3 years ago, they took my appendix out as well. I guess the doctors will eventually run out of things to take out of my body...useless organs for that. During the operation, the doctor said that they had a hard time to take out the tonsils since my mouth is so small and I have a short neck. They said that I was not breathing by myself during the operation. Hmmm... maybe I should be dead now.

With this near death experience, Christian and I have a talk on what will ever happen to him in case I just went. We then ended up talking about getting married. We are two adults that just talked about marriage and right there and then decided to get married....

This is what I wrote on our wedding website (That is what I have been busy about also!)

There is NO PROPOSAL at all...

Yes, you have read it right.. there is no proposal... no ring... no kneeling down... no romantic dinner...

We just talked about it.. and that is it... pancit! It was like... We were watching tv and he said "you think we should get married?" and I said "i think we should." Next question was "church or civil" ... I said "church"... Christian said "civil," I said "it can be civil this December." I told him that we might also spend the same amount.. Christian said... "let's make it Church.. next year in time when my sister is coming home from the US." That's what happen.

We have been living together for 5 years now. We are both agreeing adults. Even though I wanted to have the ideal proposal, we are both ready to take this relationship to the higher level and that is the most important thing.

After that, we went to reception venues, checked out churches, participated on bridal fairs and all the things connected to weddings. I can't believe that this is happening also.

There are stuff that came up at work as well. Too much things to learn and practice. Me and my SOLAIR friends also started up a small head hunting company and we are now on the stage of finding clients.

I hope I can keep up with all these things!!! Time will only tell.

Balancing Act

I was too tired last week, working the night shift and trying to squeeze in an HR consultancy job that I have to do in the morning plus the household chores that I have to do to keep the house neat as much as possible. Doing household chores makes me miss home. Living on your own can be really tough... I have to maintain the house, cook our food, wash the dishes, clean the bathroom, fix my room and all those stuff. I don't even iron my own clothes cause I don't know how.

Another challenge that might kick in by the end of the month, with the start up company that we are building. Me, Butch, Gerie and Matt are trying to start up a small head hunting company with HR consulting on the side. We are going to name the company as Buscamos & Consulting. Buscamos coming from the Spanish term we search. This will definitely be another hurdle for me to overcome. They made me the owner of the company as well as the front person since Matt & Butch might have impediments if they will be the one presenting for the company and they say that I have the time in the morning. I just wish I can sleep well.

To be added on the list is my thesis writing... It is only two weeks before classes start and I haven't decided whether I am determined to change my topic or not. At least I am more inclined to the new topic that I have chosen. I also have the materials to help me build my thesis proposal, especially with the framework. God will only know when shall I start it up. However, I have to take a break from work due to my tonsillectomy... Perfect Perfect Perfect.... no more time for me.... Let's see what will happen in the next few weeks.

UP Alyansa's Take on the UP Student Code

The Day Manila Stood Still

Yesterday was the day that Manila stood still. It was Sunday, 3rd of May 2009. Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao was scheduled to face Ricky "Hitman" Hatton. Everytime there is a Pacquiao fight for sure Manila or the whole Philippines will be quiet and yesterday was nothing different. As early as 6 AM, our TV was already opened. I was watching the HBO 24/7 documentary of the two fighters and my gosh, Floyd Mayweather Sr. was so arrogant and boastful... referring to Pacquiao as a mule!!! At least the documentary showed a different Pacquiao, unlike the one made for his fight against Dela Hoya. The show highlighted the deep faith of Pacman. The show ended by around 8 AM. Then, the weigh in ceremonies was aired and we switched our channels to GMA 7.

While waiting for the fight, I decided to cooked lunch for me and Christian. We had grilled pork for lunch. I finished cooking and the main fight hasn't even started. It was the undercard who were still fighting in the ring. We ate lunch, I washed the dishes already, cleaned up. I even took a bath already but the fight hasn't started!!! I was all commercial ads. Christian made fun of Manny's Vitwater commercial. Vit/WAaah/tir ... and then the nonsense sealant commercial with the girl getting wet... We just don't get it... The commercial went on and on and on. When the fight began with the singing of the national anthems of each country... I feel ashamed on how Martin Nievera sang our Lupang Hinirang... He should be hang for that... I bet Julian Felipe is fuming under his grave! It was purely bastardized. Lea Salonga should have sung it instead. The commercials after that made me shake off the shock I have after hearing Mr. Nievera.

The commercials were just frustrating before round 1 begins, we already knew that Pacman won by knock out in round 2. People were texting Christian. Apparently, they watched the game thru pay-per-view. I hate GMA 7 for killing the suspense due to the dozens even hundred of commercials.... They even have to repeat the rounds!!! Grrrrrr.... But then, the fight was sweet... As if it was all scripted, Pacman left hand just flew right on Hatton's chin and boom... he was laying right in the center of the ring! Simply perfect! Funny thing was his coach was nowhere near him after he fell.

It was really a day that Manila stood still.. It was a day that Hatton's world stood still... lol... I just wished that the commercials stood still as well.

Dinner with Friends & Terminal 3

It has been a long time since me and the guys from UP Solair ate out. Yesterday after our trip to Camiguin, Butch (our ever caring financier) fetched us from Terminal 3. About Terminal 3, our government should fully used that airport already. In fairness, that airport is really nice compared to the current NAIA and the old domestic airport. It is spacious and clean. I hope it stayed this way for a very long time.

Our airport needs to be really nice to attract foreign visitors who will be able to provide investments and jobs in the country. The airport is the point of entry to any country and it can give a good impression to any first visitor who will be entering our country. It is sad that there are still some legal issues with regards to the Terminal 3.

Back to the dinner story. We had dinner at Hooters in Mall of Asia at the San Miguel by the Bay. I was shocked that MOA changed a lot since the last time I was there. But then, the last time I was there was in 2007 when Christian took his passport. 2 years!!! Gerie was the one who picked Hooters. Talked about pekpek shorts. hehehehe!!! The food was not that great and the prices are really not good. However, the cocktails were great especially the Mudslide. Yummo! Butch told one of the waitress that it's Matt's birthday. Too bad for Matt, he had to stand on a chair but luckily he had around 6 to eight girls around him dancing... bouncing... bouncing... bouncing... hehehehe! I was too drunk to take more pictures to post.
